Religion & Faith

"Faith is taking the first step, even when you don't see the whole staircase" - Martin Luthor King

Accepting but Steadfast

To me, religion has always been a bit of an odd subject. I am Catholic and stand by it wholeheartedly. My entire family is also catholic and it was something I was seemingly born into. Although I initially claimed Catholicism as my religion because of my family, I feel that I never bought in until my confirmation in June 2017. I would say that this was a milestone in my life because everything I did beforehand was because I was told to, but being confirmed felt like a breath of fresh air because it was my choice and I was the one who claimed it. Although I believe in Catholicism, I have never and will never judge a person based on their religious beliefs as I see religion as a way to share in God's love and there are overarching lessons that are more important than specific writings. That being said, I will say that there are some things I disagree with, but I will not get too detailed in that.

Overall, my faith is something I value greatly. It has played a large factor in who I am as a person and will continue to do so as I grow. I pray every night and am grateful to God for the many blessings I have in my life. There are times I may not know what lies ahead, but that is when I lean on my faith the most.

Fun Fact: Below is a photo of me at my confirmation with the Dallas Diœcesis Bishop. The bishop proceeded to attempt to convince me to become a priest.
