Friends

Blurring the Lines
I can still remember my first day of third grade like it was yesterday. I took a vow to not make any friends to display my unhappiness about moving to a new school... this vow lasted about an hour. I began to make friends left and right and the next thing I knew, I loved my new school.

Friends are a very important aspect of my life. As an extrovert, I think I would go insane without them. Luckily I have always had a knack for making friends easily. Every time I meet a new person, I get excited and try to befriend them. In my eyes, each person has a whole lifetime of stories and experiences to share. I have met so many smart, creative, interesting, and loving people and I have a great deal of love for each of them.

Furthermore, another aspect of the friendships in my life that I love is that many of my friendships blur the line between normal friendships and feeling like family. As someone who never had a brother growing up, I have found brotherhood and brotherly love in many of my friends whom I consider to be role models and family. Additionally, my friends have taught me to learn, listen, be compassionate, and be comfortable being vulnerable. Also, as a child of two immigrants from Vietnam, the opportunity to participate in normal American activities was always available but with no one to nudge me in the right direction, I never did anything until I made my childhood best friend. This ended up opening a new medium of happiness for me that I am forever grateful for.

Finally, I have and will always cherish the friendships I have in my life. I discovered these are the people that will help you do shenanigans and spend free time with, but more importantly, these are people that will expand your influence, be there for the hard conversations, and be some of the people you trust the most.

Here are (some of) my friends!
